Before you agree to the job

Final cost is unknown until the plumber gives you a quote based on actually seeing the job, although they should be able to give you a ballpark estimate over the phone. Take a little time for due diligence. It is easy to overpay for the work, and it is easy to get substandard work from unlicensed people.
